Update on My Standards Abstract

So, after reviewing it a little more and getting some input from my Prof., I decided to focus on answering less questions than I was originally looking into about standards. I think I will focus on the following:

1) What are standards in general and how are they simular to/different then web standards?

2) Is it possible to make universal standards for something as large as the Internet?

3) How strict should enforcing standards be? How do you balance personal freedoms and creativey in creating websites with enforcing standards that make the site assesbile to everyone

4) How do community standards benefit that community? How would universal standards for the web benefit the internet community?

5) What are the drawbacks of enforcing standards universally?

This is a smaller focus, so it will probablly be more thorough. Does this look like a more focused approach than my original abstract? Is there an interesting area of standards that I'm missing out on completely? Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.

Looks to me like you're focusing on the idea of community standards, or the question of how wide the purvey of standards can or should be before they become ineffective, for whatever reason. I think this is plenty to consider! Wednesday we'll talk a bit about where to go from here.
